Am 21. Oktober 2021 sind 1.000 Tage vergangen, seit der Damm einer Eisenmine des Brasilianischen Bergbauunternehmens Vale gebrochen ist und 272 Menschen getötet hat. Nur vier Monate zuvor hat der Brasilianische Ableger des Deutschen Prüfunternehmens TÜV SÜD die Sicherheit des Damms bestätigt, obwohl Sicherheitsrisiken bekannt waren. Von den 272 Opfern bleiben neun im Schlamm verschollen. Bis zum heutigen Tag ist keine der verantwortlichen Personen verurteilt worden. Sowohl das Bergbauunternehmen Vale als auch der Versicherer TÜV SÜD sind straffrei geblieben. On 21 October 2021, 1000 days will have passed since a dam at an iron ore mine operated by the Brazilian mining company Vale collapsed, killing 272 people. Only four months earlier, the Brazilian subsidiary of German certifier TÜV SÜD confirmed the dam’s safety, despite known safety risks. Of the 272 victims, nine remain unfound in the sea of mud. On that day, the Brazilian organizations RENSER, Caritas, as well as ECCHR and Misereor will organize an event "Thousand days of Impunity : the Brumadinho dam collapse" to commemorate those affected by the dam break in Brumadinho and denounce a system that places corporate profits before people and the environment.
